Constantia is approximately 18km from the centre of the Cape Town city. Constantia is nestled on the western “foot” of Table Mountain. The M3 is the main road leading one to and from Constantia!
Constantia dates back to the mid 1650’s when Simon Van Der Stel established his first wine farm in the area. Since then a number of well known and historical wine farms and Estates have been established. Needless to say Constantia has produced some international award winning wines from the various Estates and there are at least 8 prominent Estates producing wines each year. Besides the beautiful wine farms in our residential area, there are also a number of top award winning restaurants in Constantia.
The Constantia Green Belt is also very popular for horse-riding, walking, mountain-biking and trail running and there are a number of trails leading off from Constantia Nek to Kirstenbosch and beyond to be enjoyed by all. Constantia is one of the few suburbs where one can still stable horses at home. The residential area of Constantia is varied and consists of retirement type secure estates such as Constantia Place and Alphendale as well as free standing homes with a minimum land size of 1350 m/2. There are a number of beautiful 24 hour security estates such as Silverhurst, High Constantia Estate and High Wycombe. Constantia is also a popular suburb for many countries to establish their Embassies – these are beautiful, spacious homes on big sized properties. Constantia has two top hotels as well as a number of well established ‘A’ graded B&B’s. Constantia also has a number of commercial centres – the Alphen Office park is popular for commercial office space. The Constantia Village Shopping Centre’s anchor tenant is the flagship.
Pick n Pay Supermarket as well as a Woolworths Food Store. There are a number of well known top brand shops at Constantia Village as well as banks, a post office and the Engen petrol station. In the middle of Constantia is the False Bay Rugby Club as well as the Constantia Tennis Club, the cricket oval and of course the newly renovated Virgin Active Gym. The Constantiaberg Medi Clinic has a 24 hour emergency centre and the hospital has many “in-house” doctors working from their own consulting rooms here. There are a number of Pre-Schools in the area as well as the Herzlia Junior School. There is a variety of good schools with in a 10km radius of the Constantia Valley.
